About the event

Tara

Tara-Jo Tea Tashna is a Jamaican born and New York based multidisciplinary artist whose main focus encompasses the realms of music, performance and choreography. Their musicality is inspired by 90s-early 2000s downtempo and hip hop, soundtracks of independent romance movies significant to that time, and their work with previous Dey collaborator, Venison Man. Assembled through play, Tara’s latest EP Gimmick, realizes a world impressed upon by hope, sustenance and delusion.

ZAHREH

Meet ZAHREH, a Maryland native embodying the heart of both folk music and hip-hop. This singer-songwriter-producer takes the roots of blues and rap to a powerful realm of expression as she shares her journey to self-discovery through provocative lyricism and heartfelt melodies.

MangoDog

Mangodog is an artist/producer currently based in Brooklyn, New York. Originally from Florida and raised in Trinidad, his years of time playing in bands over the years and studying sound has helped him to be fully self-produced. He draws inspiration from post punk, rap, hardcore, and jazz to carefully craft a unique sound based on energy.

Dominica Greene

“I am Dominica Greene, a bi-racial Black woman who cherishes and channels my Caribbean heritage and Queerness through an art-based existence. I believe that dance is one of our purest sources of hope and liberation…”

Alfredo Colon

Dominican-American saxophonist and composer Alfredo Colon is a proud New York City native. His playing has been described as authoritative and fiery yet mournful and melodic. Drawing on his interest in Dominican folklore and the works of visionary saxophonists Albert Ayler and Ornette Coleman, Colon creates a musical atmosphere that highlights beauty by framing it in disarray.
