Ruby Farmer LIVE at Ki Smith Gallery

Tonight, bassist Ruby Farmer will play a dynamic set featuring music arranged by the Fort Apache Band and other Latin jazz selections. She is joined by drummer Zack O’Farrill, trumpeter Jim Seeley, and pianist Andrew Andron – all participants of Arturo O’Farrill’s Grammy-winning Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra – as well as alto saxophonist Miriam Goroff-Behel. The Fort Apache Band, founded by brothers Jerry and Andy González, revolutionized Latin jazz by blending Afro-Cuban rhythms with hard bop. Door open at 7:30. Ruby Farmer is a bassist from Brooklyn, New York. She has shared the stage with Arturo O'Farrill and the Afro-Latin Jazz Orchestra, Sean Jones, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Houston Person, and Kandace Springs. Most Recently, she led her quintet for Dizzy's Club Late Night Sessions at Jazz at Lincoln Center.
