About the event
James Baldwin closed the Autobiographical Notes to Notes of a Native Son with the
statement “I want to be an honest man and a good writer.” This is the gospel to Oscar
Wisnia.
Oscar is a drummer, composer, and poet based in Brooklyn who has played with
many notable American musicians like Steve Carrington, Barry Finnerty, Gene Perla, Oran
Etkin, and Joe Gilman. Oscar is a serious student of West African, particularly Guinean
