About the event

Singer, songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist - Elliott Skinner, is a thoughtful creator with an ethereal approach to folk and soul music. His dedication to creating music that is an influential force for people to understand other people is the reason many artists choose to work with him. He has toured and recorded with Chance the Rapper, Jon Batiste, Yebba, Samora Pinderhughes, Zane Malik, Chaka Khan, Pusha T, Eryn Allen Kane, and more. He’s opened for artists including Kamasi Washington, Nai Palm, Lady Wray, and Amos Lee but is currently Music Directing for Leon Bridges and working on his debut project. New York based, but raised in Texas, Elliott Skinner’s music is a beautiful example of what comes from the lineage of powerful and intentional Black expression.

Matthew Jamal is a New York-based bassist, composer, + instrumentalist, known for his versatile playing and genre-bending compositions. He picked up the bass at age 11 and has since performed and worked alongside many noted artists, including conductors Leonard Slatkin, Gerard Schwarz, and Mariss Jansons; pianist and composer Billy Childs; violinists Ezinma and Lee England Jr; DJ Natasha Diggs; and pop vocalist Oyinda. He has a vast musical palette drawing inspiration from folk, eastern and western classical music, jazz, and gospel to name a few. He released his debut EP, Itinerant, in 2020 which featured improvisational music using only the sounds of his double bass and voice. His latest single "Something More Than This" (feat. Lau Noah), is out now on all streaming platforms. Matthew recently shot with Luigi + Iango and Madonna for Vanity Fair. Madonna fell in love with Matthew's playing and brought him as part of the 2023 Madonna Tour .

Elysse is a Brooklyn-based vocalist and composer who crafts cinematic, genre-bending songs. Elysse draws her songwriting cues from such artistic influences as Antonio Carlos Jobim, Stevie Wonder, and Joni Mitchell, cultivating a panoramic yet intimate style spanning a vast spectrum of idioms from psychedelic soul to chamber pop, all anchored in her passion for poetics and the written word. She released her debut single "Eve," to critical acclaim, released The Preludes EP in March 2021, and, in 2022, won the Cafe Royale Cultural Foundation Music Production Grant to produce her debut album, due this year. As a vocalist featured in numerous musical groups, she has held residencies weekly at Minton’s Playhouse and monthly at Soho Ludlow House, and has performed on NYC’s most recognized stages, including The Blue Note, Small’s Jazz Club, Joe’s Pub, The New York Historical Society, Webster Hall, and National Sawdust.
