About the event
Cal Fish is a cross-disciplinary non-binary artist from Sea Cliff New York currently based in Ocean Hill, Brooklyn. Their work is multi-modal and immersive, often employing interactive sonic tools/sculptures, experimental pop music, video, sewing soft and social sculpture. Cal has performed and shared work all over North America, in parts of Europe and often organizes multi-media events in New York. Since 2015 Cal has built projects focused on making connections between ecologies, public spaces, and empathy audible via collaboration, performance, and public installation. This work can use electromagnetic fields, sounding utilitarian objects, fm hijacking, oral histories, resonant frequencies, up-cycled quilts, interactive websites, archive building, and conductive thread. Cal uses familiar comforting objects and public settings combined with deep social archiving and sonic tools perceived as magical to create environments for critical play and technological ecological discovery.
FISHLORD is a multi-instrumentalist artist and producer from Maryland currently residing in New York. Born to Trinidadian parents, his eclectic music reflects his upbringing and identity as a first-generation immigrant. FISHLORD released music for several years under the moniker Nafets, and in late 2023, he changed his name to FISHLORD — a pivot towards his roots of nu-metal, punk, and rock. His debut EP, “YOU LOOK LIKE YOU TREAT YOUR DOGS LIKE PEOPLE”, is set to release in summer of 2024 and takes the best elements from contemporary nu metal and incorporates fresh energy grounded in his West Indian identity.
SU$HI is a deconstructionist improvisation trio. Blending elements of noise rock, free improvisation, and experimental astral projection, this trio makes sound in hopes to achieve alien contact in the near future.
Mercury Symbol/Adonis Huff is a musician, artist, and poet living and working in New York City. With an acute interest in noise and DIY culture, Adonis performs across the underground circuit of Brooklvn and Queens under the moniker “Mercury Symbol," creating in-situ compositions using sampling, field recordings, and mixer feedback. With multiple releases under this name— including a feature in the critically-acclaimed People of Eternity: BDS Mixtape Vol 1– Adonis showcases mastery and deep curiosity in improvisational and experimental techniques across his work.
