MAX "SENOR MELON" HODGSON

(b. 1992, Burlington, VT)

Max Hodgson, known to some as "Senor Melon," is a painter dealing in mostly large-scale and mural formats. He grew up in Vermont, but has spent the past two years working as a traveling painter and recording artist. His artistic process is built around freestyle composition based on impulse rather than on sketches or planning. The acute, definitive action of his process lends itself to his bold linework and the animated subjects he depicts. He relays a wickedly dynamic vision of the world, reaching into the tipping point and drawing out a fullness of sense, a range of emotion that converge at the ephemeral edge of life’s threshold. Hodgson has exhibited work across the United States and is the recipient of numerous residencies and awards.
